we first came together as friends
When the ten original members first came together in 2016, we wanted a working studio where we could fling paint with abandon, delight in our friendships, and share our passion with all comers. As firm friends to begin with, we knew we'd grow and develop so much better through mutual help.
everything we hoped for
Creating something from your imagination is satisfying, but nothing beats the thrill of getting support and input from like-minded artists. We grow in skill, understanding, and friendship.
the importance of passing knowledge on
People of all ages and skill levels can grow their artistic interests with guidance and encouragement. That's why we chose to become a 501(c)3 non-profit. It’s a lot of work at times, but we feel strongly called to share our experience with the community at large.
Our members love a wide variety of art mediums. Acrylic, oil, pastel, charcoal, ink, watercolor, printmaking, and sculpture, to name a few. And then there are "old master" techniques like metalpoint, where you draw with a strand of tin, lead, or silver wire. (Jan van Eyck, Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer and Raphael all drew in metalpoint.) Several of our members turn wood on lathes, and we have a published poet in the mix.
Art is a constant source of joy and experimentation. It keeps us vigorous and wide-eyed. Trust me, there are worse ways to spend a day - or a lifetime.
